Located
in the South of the island. Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort
has been lovingly developed on the site of one of Mauritius’
best kept and most jealously guarded secrets, the former sugar
estate of Bel Ombre. Developed on 15 hectares of the estate,
Le Telfair nestles breathtakingly between the dreamy turquoise
waters of the Indian Ocean and the lush green slopes of the
new 18 hole championship golf course at the foot of a mountain.
The resort has charm all of its own with the gentle waters
of the Citronniers River running through it. Unequalled in
Mauritius, the nearby natural reserve of Bel Ombre offers
over 3500 acres of unspoilt nature where residents can stroll,
or venture on horse back, quad or mountain bike, and discover
the amazing local fauna and flora. The is just 45 minutes
from the airport (35km) and from the capital, Port Louis (40km).
Helicopter transfers are also available. The 158 rooms are
accommodated in 20 villas of 6 or 8 rooms, created with a
Colonial style and architecture, reminiscent of the last century.
Ideally located between sea and nature, between the golf course
and the lagoon, amidst the splendour of tropical gardens,
each room offers peace and tranquillity in abundance.
The

The bedroom furniture is inspired by the French colonial period.

others enjoy a view of the river.

restaurant: Guests and members of the kitchen brigade
enjoy a uniquely convivial relationship, built around a superb
“show kitchen” where guests can select from a
range of cosmopolitan specialities or create original dishes
they wish to try while discussing with the Executive Chef.
This intriguing concept forms part of the daily culinary delight.
At the same time, a well-stocked wine cellar provides the
perfect excuse for a friendly discussion between the sommelier
and residents where each can exchange their views on this
endlessly fascination subject. This restaurant offers breakfast,
lunch and dinner. Designed on four levels, the restaurant
affords stunning views of the sea, the mountains and the river.
The terrace is perfect for a starlit dinner.
Seafood
Restaurant:
Open from lunch through to dinner and built on a stretch of
white powdery sand, the ambience is tranquil and relaxed.
Each day at noon, take time out to savour a variety of panoramic
views from the calm riverbanks of Citronniers River to the
deep blue ocean waves breaking against the coral reefs. In
the evening, the mood becomes more sophisticated. Fish and
the freshest seafood are served with an unusual Asian/Japanese
influence, grilled on the spot or cooked to your personal
taste. An important part of the pleasure of a well cooked
meal is the opportunity to choose the ingredients oneself.
Guests are more than welcome to inspect the catch at the jetty,
brought in fresh each day by the fishermen, choose the seafood
and discuss exactly how they would like it prepared.
Chateau de Bel Ombre: Built in the 19th century, amidst elegant
100 year old French gardens, the Chateau de Bel Ombre borders
the golf course at the foot of a mountain, and is quite simply
the place where dreams and romance intertwine. Internal wood
structures are hung with a number of historical mementoes,
while the antique wood paneling and the large surrounding
verandah create a refined yet intimate ambience in which to
savour cocktails, tea or perhaps a typical Mauritian meal
of game or heart of palm. Lunch is reserved for light and
informal Mauritian cuisine, and the dress code is similarly
informal and casual. However, the evenings usher in a change
of mood, where haute cuisine and elegant evening wear set
the tone.
Main
Bar & Lounge:
After dinner, guests can gather in comfortable armchairs for
a nightcap and the finest cigars, all to the relaxing sound
of a live bank performing on the stage overlooking the river.
An open-air dance-floor invites a more lively close to the
evening.
Mediterranean Restaurant: Located between the beach and the
pool, this restaurant offers light, Mediterranean cuisine,
influenced by the flavours of open wood fired cooking. Open
throughout the day, it’s the ideal spot for those who
want to enjoy the pleasures of the without pause.
Beach service: A beach service is available
for residents wishing to make the most of the sand, sun and
sea.
Room service: Available 24 hours a day.

The 18 hole championship golf course was designed by Matkovich
& Hayes from South Africa. Two rivers, Citronniers and
St Martin, run through the golf course which also features
the Chateau de Bel Ombre and its beautiful French gardens.
Golfers walking the tracks to the next hole, enjoy the magnificent
view of both the lagoons and the mountains.
The golf course adjoins the hotel. Residents have access
to the course by golf cart via a private pathway. Golf carts
are brought to the Port Cochere. Golf clubs are carefully
polished and safely stored in individual lockers, then placed
on the carts the next day ready for another day on the greens.
