The
hotel is perched on a hillside above the village of St. Leu,
with 180° views of the coast and ocean below. The owners
and managers, Yves and Wilfried, have decorated this small
establishment with style and panache. White walls contrast
with terracotta tiles, antique furniture and highly polished
brass. There’s a profusion of white broekie-lace and
mahogany, rattan and creamy beige linen. Huge canvases of
contemporary art fight for colourful dominance over oriental
vases full of vividly flowering plants.
The
brochure continues: “...you sip a cocktail by the swimming
pool, dine by candlelight in the long cool sweep of the veranda,
or dream away your time in the little ‘salons’.
You just enjoy it, because Yves and Wilfried are attending
to your every need.”
The 12 spacious bedrooms and 2 suites are in separate villas,
reached by winding paths (this hotel is not suitable for disabled
persons!). and are cool and airy. The dominant colours are
white and grey/blue, with hand painted palm motifs on the
wall and mahogany and rattan plantation-style furniture. The
